Muttessori Day School
Like a true Montessori school, we work with your dog’s natural instincts and abilities to make sure they are doing things they love when they spend the day with us.
Our Muttessori School is exclusive, and all dogs must apply, be interviewed and pass a trial day in order to be accepted.
Our dog daycare program is structured to benefit all the dog's while they are here. We want every day your dog is here to enrich their lives and yours, which is why everyday will include plenty of enrichment training at no extra cost.
It is unhealthy for dog's to just run around all day every day, and unfair to think they should run and play constantly for 8-10 hours straight. This can cause more behaviour problems then it does good, so we have structured our days to ensure they get plenty of playtime, brain time and rest.
Your dogs day will include:
Morning: individual training & playtime, playtime with toys (fetch, tug, playing with friends), brain time (place, recall, tricks, obedience, etc)
Noon: nap time (lights off, calming music playing, each dog get’s a bed or blanket), we feed them lunch if your dog eats lunch, or you can purchase a special snack for them when you book your reservation.
Afternoon: physical playtime (agility, snuffle mats, food puzzles, ball pits, bubbles etc), and chill time (free time to play with their friends or get snuggles from the staff).
Your dog will also receive plenty of potty breaks and fresh air in our clean outdoor space. During summer months we have splash pads and wading pools, foam parties and more. Our outdoor yard has play structures and is completely covered with artificial K9 Grass®, so your dog will stay clean even if they get wet!

Spay & Neuter Policy:
As of Sept 1, 2023 all new dogs over 9 months must be neutered to attend daycare.
Males that mark policy:
If your dog has a tendency to mark inside our facility, we might consider using a male wrap to address the issue. Dogs that mark often create a continuous challenge for us, as constant cleaning diverts our attention from working with the dogs. Despite thorough cleaning and sanitization, a lingering scent trail can persist, prompting other dogs to follow suit and potentially causing damage to our equipment.
To tackle this problem, we may have your dog wear a bellyband, which will be removed during outdoor potty breaks, changed when soiled, and they will be diligently cleaned before going home. If you're aware that your dog enjoys marking, peeing on various surfaces during walks, you can assist us by limiting these behaviours. Allow your dog one designated time to pee during the walk and discourage unscheduled marking stops. This approach may help curb the habit.
It's worth noting that females can also engage in marking, and we have female diapers available as well. We'll communicate openly with you if we observe this behaviour, as we believe in maintaining full transparency. If you find this policy disagreeable, regrettably, your dog will be unable to continue in our program.
Dogs thrive on structure! Ensuring this consistency both at home and away, creates stability for your dog, offering balance and harmony to your relationship.
All dog's accepted into our program must have already completed Aloha K9’s Basic Obedience program or be registered for a class within 4 months of the first day of daycare.
This may seem extreme, but this is to ensure the safest environment possible for our staff and the dogs in our care. It also ensures that our human clients have a thorough understanding of dog obedience, they are reinforcing good behaviours at home and will continue to give their dog's structure outside of daycare.

By screening all the applicants, we can make sure the dogs are a good fit, they want to be here, and the dog parents are committed to our high standards of training and structure.
If your dog does not pass the application process, we can work with you to find something we feel may be more suitable for them, their personality and their physical capabilities.
Dogs that are accepted into our program will periodically receive report cards, and we will keep you informed of any changes in your dogs behaviour, or if we feel they no longer enjoy coming to school.
Mini Mondays & Fridays
Mondays and Fridays are just for dogs 40 lbs and under. 7 months - 7 years is the ideal age for daycare. Smaller breeds tend to be more youthful in their senior years and we will evaluate each dog individually, if your dog is over 7 years we can still do a trial, to see if daycare is a good fit for them.
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Dogs 40lbs or over are welcome Tuesdays to Thursdays. The big dogs must come a minimum of once a week . If your dog is on the cusp of 40lbs, we can evaluate if they are a fit to come to both days.
The ideal age is 7 mos - 7 years. Dogs who turn 7 while in daycare will be monitored to ensure their enjoyment.
