Intermediate Obedience Classes
Once your dog has passed our Basic Obedience test, you are welcome to come to Intermediate classes.
It is important to keep your dogs training up after you have done basic training. Dogs get bored with the same routine, so this next level of training is a great way to keep your dog engaged and their behaviour in check. Intermediate obedience is an on-going drop-in style class, so you do not need to come every week. This is a great option for those with a busy life, who find it hard to make a weekly 6 - 8 week commitment.
$25/hr
Maximum 8 dogs per class.
Requirements:
Your dog must have completed and passed our Basic Obedience program, via group class or private lessons.
If your dog has not done our training program but has completed formal training elsewhere you may opt to challenge our obedience test.
Intermediate Obedience is a bi-weekly drop-in class to fit your busy life! Class is offered every other Tuesday and continues to focus on control, distance and neutrality.
Intermediate class will focus more on dog to dog interactions with neutrality.
We will introduce the Stand and Finish commands, and learn hand signals.
Our Formal Recalls get further away, with distractions.
In-Motions - your dog will learn to sit, down or stand while you stay in motion walking away from them.
Out of sights - dogs must hold their positions even when they cannot see you. This is a great confidence builder!
Food Refusal - teaching your dog that not all food is for them!
We incorporate long lines (20 - 30ft) into our training sessions, building your dogs ability to work for you no matter how far away you are.
We will also add therapy dog skills and other fun training to the classes. We may even meet elsewhere for a field trip class! This class has no set outline, it is new every week and a great way to challenge both dog and owner!
